In 2001, Ron Jones (Siebert Lutheran Foundation), Fred Bleeke (Lutheran Foundation of St. Louis), Rich Bimler (Wheat Ridge Ministries), and Rick Herman (Wheat Ridge Ministries) recognized the need to cultivate relationships with colleagues who understood the joys and challenges of philanthropic grant making. The group decided to convene to share best-practices and notes about grant requests from the same organizations, and enhance their individual professional growth - and Lutheran Grantmakers and Donors Network was born.
Since then, the group has grown and friendships and collegial relationships have developed. Each year fosters more mutual encouragement, better networking, and more collaborative efforts to better serve the Lutheran ministries being funded.
